Timely variety
With variety stories often being those timely reviews or more “pop culture-based” stories they are destined for the website. I can write stories about the media of now; no need to wait around for the magazine to be complete, it can still be current.
Social commentary: "Adolescene"
Left: Here is a photo and a button that links to a social commentary that I wrote on the show "Adolescence." I wrote this as a package with my DEIC; she wrote a review, and I wrote the commentary. I felt very drawn to this story because the point this show makes on the influence of toxic masculinity is so important. This series had gotten so popular when it came out, this was the perfect kind og culrutrally relevant piece of media to comment on. I think the story is very well written and as a package the whole thing is elevated even more.
Social commentary: "Wicked: For Good"
Left: Here is a link to a story I wrote on "Wicked: For Good," in which I commented on the point it makes on modern politics. Being both a fan of "Wicked" and global politics, this story was a no-brainer. I embedded a trailer for some multimedia, but the main point of this piece was my own writing and the prominence of "Wicked" in pop culture. Since the story went up, multiple people have talked to me about it and how some of that stuff stood out to them, too. I knew this story was a must for our website.
5 Must Watch Horror Movies
Left: Here is a link to a horror movie review package that was in the ODYSSEY's 2024 Halloween package. With Halloween being such a big holiday, I wanted to make sure I could contribute to the festivities, but having a hard deadline added difficulty. I pushed through and made it posted before Halloween, so its timeliness remained. For Multimedia, I added a trailer embed for each movie so a reader can go straight from my review to the official trailer to create a cohesive website piece.
