Reporting and Writing

Reporting process

I separated my reporting and writing into their own pages because, while linked, they play their own roles in my journalistic process. For me, writing has always been my passion, I had to learn how to report. Throughout my journalistic career I have come to understand the importance of both.

My writing

Reporting is a difficult skill, but as I have advanced in my journalistic career, it has gotten easier. Even though getting where I am has taken a lot of hard work and effort, reporting properly is the most important thing a journalist can do.

Writing has always been a love for me, and journalism has given me a new outlet to explore writing, and I couldn't be happier working on it. It allows me to tell other people’s stories as much as my own, convey someone’s experience, and write from my own perspective.

Final Thoughts

Reporting is the foundation of every journalist, no matter the project; without reporting, you're lost. Writing is the means by which journalists present their reporting so that their readers understand it better.

Going into high school, I had a very weak understanding of real journalism, but over my four years, I have put in the dues so that I can understand it better. I learned to love the news and became a regular consumer of articles and reports. For every story, I worked harder so that it could be even better than the last, and that's what I believe in. It didn't come easily, but I never stopped improving and taking critiques to become stronger in both my reporting and writing.
