Recommendations

David Ragsdale

Cherrelle Pass

Leslie Sokal-Berg

Right: In this PDF on the right is a letter of recommendation from Coach Cherrelle Pass. I interviewed her around four times and from this relationship I now know her kid's names by heart. When I see her I ask her about her day because I want her to know I care, as reflected in the letter.
Left: Here in this PDF on the left is a letter of recommendation from my journalism advisor, Mr. David Ragsdale. He has taught me everything I know today, and I cannot credit him enough for his impact on me as a journalist. Throughout my three years of ODYSSEY, he has seen my peaks and valleys and I cannot recommend his accord of my journalism experience more.
Left: Here in this PDF on the right is a letter of recommendation from Miles Lawrence, a senior in ODYSSEY. This year he has been my direct supervisor for most of my stories and frequently gave me excellent feedback. I also had the privilege of presenting with him and that was great because we got to build off of each other.

Final Thoughts

These letters of recommendation are testaments to my character and represent who I am as a journalist. As a journalist, I don't get a lot of feedback from the people I have worked alongside, so the process of seeking our letters of recommendation was refreshing.

The three letters I included are all highlights of my journalism career so far. My advisor, Mr. Ragsdale allowed me to pursue something new in freshman year and supported me all the way. Miles Lawrence has been a close friend in ODYSSEY but was also who inspired me to join in the first place. Lastly, Coach Pass, the main stakeholder who worked with me on my first four beats even when I wasn't the best at what I did gave me room to try again.

I would be nowhere without these three people.
