Infographics

Infographics are a very fun and interesting way to share information and report to readers in a visual way. In a story to go with all the text, you need more visual pieces and infographics are a great way to add more information outside of your story in an eye-catching way. Across my high school career thus far I have created a lot of infographics. So to show my understanding of design I would like to pick apart my good inforgaphics and the not so good ones.

Left and Right: Here are two separate infographics I have made in the past. The Black Friday infographic went with a series of Instagram trivia questions about Black Friday. Now, I can see that it is messy and sloppy and very busy, but as you can see on the right, I  have improved on that. The suicide prevention infographic shows a simpler design and color scheme. On the right, the color scheme I chose was much more limited to keep things simple. Here, I wanted the information to stand out more compared to a bunch of clip art.

Left and Right: Here are two separate infographics I have made in the past. The left infographic I really dislike for several reasons. The first of which is the color scheme, that jarring green and blue do not look good together. The text is hard to read, and the graphics are very disruptive to the infographic. The infographic on the right did a better job of creating a cohesive color scheme and the text is easier to read. It also applies some common design rules of big numbers being bigger to catch the eye. I still think this infographic is a bit busier but it shows growth in diesgn techniques.

Left: Here is an image of an infographic I did on Donald Trump's second inauguration. This is my most recent infographic so I wanted to highlight the evolution of my design skill. I used a gentle but effective color scheme that conveys the point I am trying to make. I also used easy-to-read typography that anyone can read easily. Again I want to emphasize the growth from my first infographic on Black Friday and this most recent one.
